TWO PIECES PART 2

TWO PIECES PART 2

PICK UP

Bella groaned. “Samuel is a good guy. But what if he is this good because he cannot do the do?”

Sharon grabbed a pillow and smacked Bella lightly. “I feel like slapping you right now.”

“Now I’m the bad one,” Bella muttered.

“You don’t know how lucky you are! If there’s anything I fear in my relationship, it’s the constant pressure from Fred trying to sleep with me.”

Bella shook her head. “I want something like that. I want to be sure my guy is complete.”

Sharon’s eyes darkened. “You think you can handle that kind of pressure?”

Bella hesitated. “Don’t tell him, please.”

Sharon shook her head. “I won’t. But answer my question—do you think you can handle the pressure of your spouse asking for sex?”

Bella swallowed hard. “I think I can.”

Sharon sighed in frustration. “Don’t be stupid.”

Chapter 5: The Weight of Silence

The atmosphere in the house was heavy with silence. Brenda sat on the couch, her arms wrapped around herself as though trying to shield herself from the weight of what she had just learned. Kunle paced back and forth, his hands on his waist, deep in thought. The solemn hum of distant city noise filtered through the slightly open window, but inside, the tension was almost palpable.

“Babe, how do we tell Samuel this?” Brenda’s voice was hushed, hesitant. Her eyes, filled with concern, followed her husband’s restless movements.

Kunle stopped in his tracks and turned to her. “No,” he said firmly. “We are not telling him anything.”

Brenda’s brows furrowed. “Are you sure? He deserves to know.”

Kunle shook his head. “I know my friend. Telling him something like this could make him go back to his vomit.”

Brenda exhaled deeply and leaned back into the couch. “Samuel? Hmmm… This is strange.”

Kunle ran a hand over his face and muttered under his breath. “Samo samo… oh my God, I can’t tell him that.”

Brenda looked at him closely, understanding the weight of his words. She knew Samuel was a man of conviction, a man who sought direction from God in all things. But he was also human, and a revelation like this could shake him to his core. Kunle was right—some truths were better left unsaid.

A long silence settled between them, broken only by the distant hum of life outside their walls. And as the weight of their decision settled, Brenda reached for Kunle’s hand, squeezing it gently.

“Let’s just thank God for the gift of Jesus Christ,” Kunle said, his voice filled with resignation.

Brenda nodded, though the unease in her heart remained. Some burdens were not meant to be shared, but she could only pray that in time, everything would make sense.

Chapter 6: Unseen Beginnings

The sun cast a warm glow over the church compound as people mingled, exchanging pleasantries. The air carried a cool breeze, and in the background, the gentle strumming of a guitar blended harmoniously with the distant sounds of cheerful chatter.

Bella clapped her hands together, her face beaming with delight. “Wow, I loved that ministration,” she said, turning to Dapo with an appreciative smile.

Dapo chuckled, his eyes shining with gratitude. “Thank you so much, dear. I’m really glad you came with me.”

Bella waved a dismissive hand. “Haba, what are friends for?”

Dapo placed a hand on his chest in mock sincerity. “Honestly, thank you for being such a good friend.”

Bella rolled her eyes playfully. “Abeg, let’s go before you drown me in ‘thank yous.’”

Dapo let out a hearty laugh before reaching into his pocket. “Can you wait for me in the car? Pastor wants to see me before I leave.”

“Sure, no problem,” Bella replied, stretching out her hand. “Give me your keys.”

Dapo handed them over. “Take, thanks.”

Bella sighed dramatically. “Stop saying thank you, please.”

Dapo smirked mischievously. “Na to take you to mama remain o.”

Bella raised an eyebrow, pretending to be scandalized. “Take who to mama?”

“You, of course,” Dapo teased.

Bella scoffed, turning on her heel. “Abeg, excuse me. I’ll be waiting in the car. Mama ko? Shior.”

Dapo laughed as he watched her walk away, shaking his head at her dramatic exit. The sound of love strings played softly in the background, setting the mood for an unfolding story neither of them saw coming.

Chapter 7: A Prophecy of Return

The weight of uncertainty hung heavy in the air. Samuel sat on the edge of his bed, gripping his phone tightly as it rang. His heart pounded, his fingers tapping nervously against his knee. When Kunle finally picked up, Samuel didn’t waste a second.

“Kunle, how far?” his voice was thick with anxiety.

“Samuel, how are you?” Kunle responded, his tone cautious.

Samuel sighed. “Kunle, what is going on? It’s been four months already, and Bella is still insisting on this breakup.”

Kunle hesitated before speaking. “Samuel…”

“Yes?” Samuel pressed.

Kunle took a deep breath. “Can I be honest with you?”

Samuel tensed. “Don’t tell me to move on, please.”

Kunle sighed. “But I’m sorry, bro—that appears to be the truth.”

Samuel clenched his jaw, a wave of frustration washing over him. “Oh my God, why? What have I done wrong? What did she say I did?”

Kunle’s voice was steady but firm. “Samuel, you’re my friend. That’s not necessary. Just seek the face of the Lord, and He will give you someone better.”

Samuel exhaled sharply. “Kunle, I have prayed. God told me she is my wife.”

Kunle paused. “Are you sure you heard God?”

Samuel stiffened. “Stop that, Kunle. I am not faking anything here.”

Kunle’s voice softened. “I’m sorry, bro.”

Samuel closed his eyes. “God told me she will come back… but deformed.”

A silence fell between them. Kunle’s voice, when he finally spoke, was laced with confusion. “Are you serious right now?”

“I’m very serious, Kunle.”

Kunle exhaled. “That is… huge.”

Samuel ran a hand through his hair. “It scares me.”

“How do you mean?” Kunle asked carefully.

“I love Bella, but I don’t think I can cope with her if she’s… crippled. I can take any other thing, but physical deformity is a big issue for me.”

Kunle sighed deeply. “Hmmm. Well, we will have to keep praying for her… because, as we speak, she is in a relationship.”

Samuel sat upright, his breath catching. “What?!”

“Yes, bro. She introduced the guy to us last month.”

Samuel’s mind reeled. “What’s his name?”

Kunle hesitated. “Dapo. And she seems to really like him.”

Samuel’s hands trembled. “Maybe… maybe I didn’t hear right. Maybe I should pray more.”

Kunle’s voice was gentle but firm. “Just keep praying, bro.”

Samuel swallowed hard. “Okay… thanks.”

As the call ended, Samuel stared blankly at the wall. The words echoed in his mind—she will come back… but deformed.

A slow, sinking dread settled in his chest.

The soft hum of melancholic music filled the room, blending with the turmoil of his thoughts.

Chapter 8: A Test of Convictions

Bella walked into the cozy living room, her eyes twinkling with excitement as she held out a neatly wrapped package. Dapo, lounging comfortably on the couch, sat up with surprise.

“Wow, you got me this big gift?” he asked, his voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Bella chuckled, shaking her head. “Come on, Dapo. What’s big about this? It’s just something small.”

“No, it’s not small,” he insisted, running his fingers along the edges of the neatly tied ribbon.

She tilted her head, feigning skepticism. “Really?”

“Yes, really,” he assured her, grinning. “I love it, and I appreciate it greatly.”

“I’m glad you do,” she said, smiling warmly.

Dapo set the gift aside and pulled her into a hug. “Come here, baby.”

Bella hesitated for a brief moment before leaning into his embrace. He held her close, whispering against her ear, “You are so beautiful.”

She looked up at him, her gaze filled with affection. “And you are so handsome.”

“Thank you for loving me,” he murmured.

“Thank you for choosing me,” she replied.

Without warning, Dapo leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. Bella’s body stiffened in shock before she pushed him away abruptly.

“Dapo!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with anger.

He blinked in confusion. “Yes, babe?”

She stepped back, glaring at him. “What did you just do?”

He chuckled nervously. “I just kissed my babe. Your lips are soft, babe. Come here, take more.”

Before he could make another move, Bella’s hand flew across his face with a resounding slap. Dapo’s head jerked to the side, his expression morphing into one of shock and disbelief.

“Are you out of your mind?” she demanded, her eyes blazing with fury.

He rubbed his cheek, wincing. “Come on, babe, you slapped me?”

“And I will give you another one if you’re not careful!” she snapped.

Dapo sighed. “Oh really?”

“Yes, really! Did we not agree on a pure and holy relationship until marriage?”

He exhaled sharply. “It’s just a kiss, Bella.”

She scoffed. “Nothing is ‘just’ about a kiss! Just that, and you were already getting a hard-on.”

Dapo’s face twisted into an embarrassed frown. “Come on, look at it. Where’s the hard-on?”

Bella rolled her eyes. “It respected itself after I slapped some sense back into you.”

He ran a hand through his hair. “But it was just a kiss.”

She folded her arms. “I think your senses are not yet completely restored. Do you need another slap for a hard reset? Nothing is ‘just’ a kiss.”

Dapo sighed in defeat. “Okay, I’m sorry.”

“Better,” she muttered. “And never try it again.”

“Alright, dear.”

She nodded. “Good.”

He reached for her hand, squeezing it lightly. “I love you.”

Her gaze softened. “I love you too, Dapo, but I have to go now.”

“Are you angry?”

“Nope, but I’ve got to leave.”

He exhaled. “Okay… Bella?”

She turned at the door. “Yes?”

“I’m really, really sorry.”

She studied his face for a moment before sighing. “Hmmm, Dapo, I know it was a mistake. I have forgiven you, and I’m sorry for being so hard on you. I’m just leaving so that we can both stay on the right path. Besides, I have to catch up with something.”

He nodded slowly. “Okay, I understand. Thank you.”

“Thank you for your understanding.”

“Yes, love.”

“Bye.”

She stepped out, closing the door behind her. Dapo exhaled and slumped onto the couch, rubbing his cheek where she had slapped him. A slow smirk played on his lips as he muttered under his breath.

“Hmmm… nawa o. Who told this one that I want to marry her? Just a kiss, and you slapped me? Something that I will still get down there before I travel out of this country… then you will understand that Dapo no really get sense.”

A sly chuckle escaped his lips as he picked up his phone, his thoughts far from repentance.

Chapter 9: Whispers of Doubt

The afternoon sun filtered through the lace curtains, casting patterned shadows across the living room. Bella sprawled across the couch, laughter bubbling from her lips as she recounted the events of the previous evening to Sharon, who sat cross-legged on the floor, sifting through a bowl of popcorn.

“Omo, you needed to see his face after I slapped him,” Bella chuckled, shaking her head. “You know when a laptop is booting up and the light comes on gradually? That was exactly what he looked like. Just standing there, rebooting.”

Sharon tossed a kernel into her mouth, raising an eyebrow. “So, what did he do next?”

“What else would a ‘child of God’ do if not to apologize?” Bella smirked, folding her arms smugly. “He was so sorry, so embarrassed. He looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him.”

Sharon exhaled deeply, her expression shifting. “Hmmm.”

Bella narrowed her eyes. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Sharon leaned forward, fixing her friend with an unwavering gaze. “You got what you wanted.”

Bella blinked. “Yes, of course, I got—wait, what do you mean by that?”

Sharon’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “I mean, you wanted a man who would test the waters before marriage.”

Bella sat upright, her laughter vanishing. “Are you out of your senses, Sharon?”

Sharon feigned innocence, her tone teasing. “Oh, it’s my turn now?”

Bella pointed a warning finger at her. “Stop this nonsense. Don’t do it.”

Sharon raised her hands in mock surrender. “But—”

“Shhh!” Bella silenced her with a glare.

Sharon chuckled. “Alright, alright. Sorry then.”

Bella sighed, leaning back against the couch. “Listen, I never wanted, and will never advocate for, sex before marriage. I only said I wanted to be sure he could ‘do the do’ and that he wasn’t as boring as Samuel. Dapo is far better. He’s exciting, he has that fire, and he showed me yesterday that he is a man. I just don’t want a boring Christian.”

Sharon tilted her head thoughtfully. “Okay, I get it.”

“Good,” Bella said, nodding.

A slow smile spread across Sharon’s face. “So you want a Christian with a little craze?”

Bella laughed. “You get am!”

Sharon burst into laughter as well. “So, basically, you want a Naira Marley in a Dunsin Oyekan package?”

Bella threw a pillow at her playfully. “Hmmm, you too get sense!”

Sharon caught the pillow and shook her head, her laughter fading into a pensive expression. “Babe, to be honest,” she said softly, “I’m not sure about this guy. My spirit isn’t at peace yet.”

Bella rolled her eyes. “Hmmm, stop it. He’s a good guy. He’s a child of God. A minister of the gospel.”

Sharon sighed. “I know all of that. But something just doesn’t sit right with me.”

Bella pursed her lips. “Well, I don’t know what else to say to you.”

Sharon nodded, popping another piece of popcorn into her mouth. “No problem. Just be careful.”

The conversation trailed off as music played softly in the background, but Sharon’s words lingered in Bella’s mind. A part of her wanted to dismiss them, but another part, deep down, couldn’t shake off the unease they planted within her.

Chapter 10: The Fall

Bella sat on the couch, her eyes searching Dapo’s face, trying to decipher the emotions he had been concealing for weeks. Something had shifted between them, and she needed to know what it was.

“Babe, what is happening?” she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Dapo exhaled deeply. “How do you mean?”

Bella leaned forward. “Something seems off… for like a month now. You’ve not been yourself. You’re not as free as you used to be.”

Dapo sighed again and nodded slowly. “You’re right.”

Bella straightened. “So, will you tell me what’s wrong?”

“I’ve just been trying to be careful.”

“Careful about what?”

“You and I.”

Bella frowned. “How?”

“I just want to respect the rule.”

“What rule?”

“I don’t want to be slapped again.”

Bella’s lips parted in surprise before she chuckled. “Oh, come on. I’m sorry about that. But that should not be a reason why you should become boring.”

“I’m sorry. I know myself.”

“But you weren’t boring before that day.”

Dapo sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I know myself, Bella. If I allow myself to be that free with you, it will happen again. And I don’t want to let my love for you grow more than it should.”

Bella’s heart clenched. “What does that mean? Your love for me has dropped because I told you not to kiss me again?”

“No, the slap really got to me. Don’t worry about the love—it will surely increase over time. I just want to respect the one I love.”

Bella inhaled deeply. “Dapo…”

“Yes?”

“Do you really love me?”

Dapo’s eyes softened. “I do, my dear. I really do. And I don’t want to hurt your feelings anymore. I’m scared of hurting you.”

Bella hesitated before speaking. “Okay, I will tell you the truth… in all fairness, the kiss was a good one. I felt it. I’m sorry I reacted that way.”

Dapo shook his head. “No, not at all. It’s all fine. I will just maintain the rule.”

“You can kiss me, babe. But not more than that.”

Dapo’s eyes widened slightly. “No, I will not do it.”

“I’m serious. You can.”

“No, babe. We are not breaking the rule anymore.”

“I made the rule, right?”

Dapo smirked. “We made the rule.”

Bella tilted her head. “I initiated it, right?”

“Yes, you did.”

“And I am the one here amending the constitution of this relationship.”

Dapo studied her for a moment. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I am sure.”

“Nothing more than a kiss, right?”

“I trust us to be able to handle it.”

Dapo exhaled deeply. “Bella…”

“Yes?”

His voice dropped into a low, romantic tone. “I love you so much. I love everything about you—your personality, sincerity, attitude. You are just so beautiful inside and out, and I love you.”

Bella smiled. “Thank you so much.”

“You have no idea how blessed I feel having you. I can’t stop imagining you by my side every day—waking up next to me, sleeping in my arms.”

Bella sighed dreamily. “It would be so sweet.”

“Waking up to pray together, planning programs together, winning souls together, fulfilling purpose together.”

Bella nodded. “Yes, babe. We’re going to make a great couple.”

Dapo chuckled. “And going on vacations together.”

Bella laughed. “Oh, babe.”

“In a country far from home,” Dapo continued.

“Yes, baby.”

“Beautiful scenery, fresh breeze… I see beautiful days ahead.”

Bella exhaled in contentment. “Oh my God, you are the perfect man I want, and God has blessed me with you. Hmmm.”

Their gazes locked, and before Bella knew it, Dapo’s lips met hers in a soft, lingering kiss.

“Hmmm,” Dapo murmured against her lips. “Where did you get your soft lips from?”

Bella giggled. “Yours are way softer. You’re such a bad boy.”

“Can I kiss you again?”

Bella melted in his arms. “I love the way I feel comfortable with you. Oh my God, babe.”

“Put your head on my chest and feel more comfort.”

Bella leaned into him. “Hmmm, this is great. I love it.”

“Kiss me, babe.”

The soft kisses turned deeper. Their breathing grew heavy, the atmosphere shifting from lighthearted to intense.

And then it happened.

Bella gasped, pulling away suddenly. “Dapo, what did we just do?”

Dapo’s eyes widened in realization. “Jesus… how did we get here?”

Tears welled up in Bella’s eyes. “Dapo, we… we ended up in sex.”

Dapo sat up, running a shaky hand through his hair. “What on earth came over us?”

Bella covered her mouth with trembling fingers. “Oh my God… Jesus, ha! I have disappointed you. Ha, God, I failed you. I am so sorry, Lord.”

Dapo turned away, his shoulders heaving. “God, we are sorry. We are so sorry. We ask for Your forgiveness, Lord. God, have mercy.”

Bella wept. “Oh no, my God. Why did I do this to You? Bella, you failed God, ha.”

Dapo’s voice broke as he whispered, “Mercy, Lord. God, have mercy.”

The room, once filled with laughter and love, now carried only the echoes of regret.
